200 Years of Oregon Beer
At Formations Inc., we created this exhibit exploring the storied history of beer in Oregon for the Oregon Historical Society, right here in Portland.
As the lead graphic designer on this project, I worked under the direction of the exhibit designer to established the typography, color palette and visual style of the exhibit.
I helped the rest of the design team apply the established look through each phase of the design process. I also managed the graphic production process for this project from prepping files to coordinating with fabricators and vendors.
An oversize logo reminiscent of a gigantic beer coaster sets the tone and invites visitors into the exhibit space.
Oversized portraits, a direct-printed panel and stylized quote explain how the story of beer in Oregon stretches all the way back to Lewis and Clark.
A mix of textures, both tactile and printed, bring depth and interest to the exhibit space.
Vinyl murals were applied to convert the windows into interpretive display areas recounting the up-and-down history of beer in the region.
As the story advances, so does our graphic approach; more modernity and less grunge as approach the present day.
The exhibit is rich with artifacts that were integrated with the graphics and text.
