Oregon Zoo Education Center
As part of the graphic design team at Formations Inc., I worked within established brand guidelines to design and produce graphic layouts for the new Education Center at the Oregon Zoo in Portland, Oregon. Bright colors, engaging layout and bold typography were used to create an immersive learning environment where kids can learn about animals.
Teaching about local species and practical ways to get involved in helping wildlife are the primary points of emphasis for the exhibit. We used large photographic displays, comic book illustrations and interactive exhibits to help kids connect with the stories and take conservation lessons to heart.
I've done my best to showcase areas of the exhibit where I was particularly involved in the design process; see more of this beautiful exhibit space at Formations Inc.

This area is all about the plight of Western Pond Turtle, a local endangered species. Interactive panels explain the threats that these turtles face and how we can help them.
This exhibit educates the visitor on the importance of insects in our lives. Live insects and their habitats are incorporated into the graphic display.
This display presents the life cycles of two local butterfly species and explains how the zoo is working to restore their threatened habitats. Presenting two concurrent timelines in an attractive and understandable way was a particularly rewarding design challenge.
